Bartholomew resigns from YMCA; search is on for new director

Jeff Bartholomew, executive director of the Alexandria Area YMCA since 2006, has resigned his position.

On Saturday, the local YMCA board issued the following statement: "The board of directors thanks Jeff for his years of dedicated service to the Y. We wish him well in the future."

The board, led by president Brent Boraas, is undertaking a national search for the next executive director of the Y. "We are focused on hiring an experienced leader with a strong management track record and a commitment to the Y’s cause of strengthening community," board members said.

In the meantime, Theresa Wittenberg will serve as interim executive director.

The Y has been a driving force for good in the Alexandria area for nearly a decade, the board noted. "We are excited about this next chapter in our history and about the insights and ideas that a new executive director will bring to our organization and the community," board members said.
