Alexandria's Andrew Bangsund drove his Armstrong Skull Cleaning WISSOTA Midwest Modified all the way to the Alexandria Motor's Victory Lane on a beautiful Saturday night at the High Flying Half-Mile Viking Speedway in Alexandria this past Saturday.

Other drivers who found their way to Victory Lane on Glenwood Night were Adam Burrows in his Race Star WISSOTA Street Stock, Jon Stepan in his Angelina's WISSOTA Super Stock, Zach Johnson in his Shaw Trucking WISSOTA Late Model and Cody Skytland took the extra purse for Beck's Mod Night in his WISSOTA Modified.

WISSOTA MIDWEST MODIFIEDS

The features kicked off with Brandon Spanswick on the pole, leading the 13 WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds in the 15-lap event.

The action picked up very quickly when Kelly Haack and Dusty Bitzan went flying over the banking in the first turn of lap number one. Haack's night ended with his car on its roof and Bitzan suffered a lot of body damage but would continue. After the restart, the racers went the entire 15 laps with no further cautions.

Bangsund, a Midwest Modified rookie, grabbed his first career Midwest Modified feature win. He held off a hard charging Josh Muzik who took the runner-up spot with Brandon Spanswick a close third.

WISSOTA

STREET STOCKS

Next up was the WISSOTA Street Stocks where rookie Durand Peterson from Glenwood started on the pole for the 12-lap feature event.

The race would go flag to flag with no cautions and it looked like sophomore driver Ryan Satter of Dent was on his way to his first ever feature win until the last lap when the hard charging point leader and defending champion, Adam Burrows caught Satter on the backstretch.

The two battled side-by-side through turn four when Burrows took the lead and his third Viking Speedway feature win of the season.

WISSOTA SUPER STOCK

Next up was an eventful WISSOTA Super Stock feature that started with Cody Lee starting outside the pole-sitter Chris Winter.

Early on, Stepan took the lead from his fourth starting position with Lee close behind. Jeff Crouse in the DQ #29 was the driver to watch as he moved through the pack and held the fourth position as the first caution flew over the track.

With eight laps remaining, Crouse came off a restart and quickly battled his way back to fourth while Stepan kept a firm grip on the lead ahead of Lee. A late caution set up a green-white-checkered finish with Crouse moving past Matt Miller and Lee to capture second place behind Jon Stepan who took home his second Viking Speedway Feature Trophy of the season.

WISSOTA MODIFIEDS

Nineteen WISSOTA Modifieds took to the track for their 20-lap feature with Elrosa pilot Danny Bayer on the pole.

The 7-8-9 starters were the cars to watch as Josh Thoennes, Dave Schroeder and Cody Skytland moved through the pack. Skytland overtook Schroeder and Josh Thoennes while making quick work of the other six cars who started ahead of him.

By the halfway point of the race, Skytland held a straightaway lead over Schroeder in the second spot but the one and only caution would bunch the field up with 10 laps to go. Skytland proved to have the best car on the night as he continued the "no repeat winner" streak in 2013 at the High Flying Half Mile, becoming the ninth different driver to win out of nine Modified main events this season.

WISSOTA

LATE MODELS

Clarence Washburn led 12 WISSOTA Late Models from the pole in the final event of the night.

Glenwood driver Zach Johnson and Jeff Wildung quickly moved from the third row to lead the field that went flag to flag with no cautions.

Johnson ended up in the Alexandria Motors Victory Lane for the second time this season.

The Viking Speedway will be back in action tomorrow night, Saturday, for Jam the Stands with free grandstand admission for all fans. All five WISSOTA divisions will be in action along with the Viking Pure Stocks, with racing action starting at 6 p.m. For more information on the speedway, visit http://www.vikingspeedway.net.
