The Alexandria boys’ basketball team should prove tough to beat this season if the Cardinals continue to get production from up and down their lineup like they did in a 78-64 win at Fergus Falls on Tuesday night.

0 Talk about it

All five starters scored in double figures for Alexandria as the Cardinal put up 37 points in the first half. They didn’t let up after that, scoring 41 after the break. They needed that to run away with things as the Otters stayed close through the half, trailing by just one at the break.

Alexandria’s depth ultimately wore down the Otters. John Vogeler had 20 points and six steals. Joe Gorghuber was right behind him with 15 points. Brandon Bistodeau finished with 13 and David Krivanek and Chase Kohler had 12 and 10 points, respectively.

The Cardinals were efficient as a team, shooting 52 percent from the field (29-of-55). They also hit four threes and got to the free throw line 25 times, connecting on 16.

The win moves the Cardinals to 3-0 with all three wins coming against Central Lakes Conference teams. They will have an opportunity to make it four straight league wins when they go to Sartell tonight, Friday, before returning home on Saturday to host Big Lake at 7:30 p.m.
