Head coach Kelly Olson said the Arrows did a good job on defense and the Chargers had trouble finishing some of their possessions. But they fought through it for a conference victory.

"The girls had a sense of urgency and kept pushing back at Ashby," Olson said. "I am proud of the girls for keeping their focus during a game when we were not clicking, and for finding the drive to move forward."

Arrows head coach Andrea Knick said they played a great first set, but after that the Chargers were able to control the match.

"We made things too hard on ourselves and easy for them by giving them points on missed serves and little errors on our side that turned into points for them," Knick said.

For the Chargers, Emma Friedrich had a double-double with 15 kills and 18 digs in the match. Caroline Jansen also had 15 kills. Kinsley Randt had 32 assists and 11 digs, and Megan Kokett had 18 digs.

The Arrows were led by Madison Van Santen, who had six kills in the match. Alexis Ness also had five kills. Cassandra Jordan led the defense with 20 digs, and Van Santen had seven digs and 12 set assists.

With the win, Brandon-Evansville improved to 3-0 in conference play. They are looking forward to playing Class AA teams in the Minnewaska tournament this Saturday.

Ashby is 1-2 in conference play, and their next conference match is Tuesday, September 17 at Hillcrest Lutheran Academy.
