B-E softball snaps skid
The Brandon-Evansville softball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a doubleheader sweep over Ortonville on Tuesday night.
The Chargers got 22 strikeouts in 14 innings of work from senior pitcher Kinsley Randt. She fanned nine in the nightcap to help her team to a 14-6 win. Emma Friedrich also had a huge game at the plate, going 5-for-5 with four runs scored and an RBI. Kennedy Lund added three hits, including two doubles, to drive in four and score twice. Toni Wright added to the offense with two hits, including a double, and four RBIs, while Lizzy Friedrich scored three runs.
“The bats really came to life for us in the second game and were joined by a strong performance by Kinsley who was backed up by a solid defense overall,” head coach Kasi Huschle said. “We saw a lot of great things from a lot of players tonight. Emma had a great night offensively and defensively.”Randt was even more dominant in game one with 13 strikeouts and just two hits allowed. She allowed just one earned run in the 6-4 win. Morgan Stelzer backed her at the plate by going 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored.“Kinsley came out and threw well for us in the first game with 13 strikeouts,” Huschle said. “We were able to start out strong and with a lot of intensity. It was nice to see the girls come out and play hard from the first pitch to the last out.”The two wins evened the Chargers’ record at 5-5. They are 2-1 in the Pheasant Conference standings.
