The Warriors led 31-11 at the break behind 24 points from Carter Thiel. The senior 6’4” forward finished with 26 overall and was the only player in double figures in the game.

“He had two threes, a bunch of midrange jump shots and three or four offensive rebounds for putbacks,” Brandon- Evansville head coach John Holsten said. “We just couldn’t deal with his quickness or his size.”

Thiel is part of a big Wheaton team that has two regulars at 6’7”. The Chargers couldn’t handle that size, along with the athleticism that the Warriors bring to the table.

Brandon Christianson finished with seven points to lead the Chargers’ scoring. Skyler Quinn had six points, while Will Schroeder finished with five. James Strese also scored his first four varsity points, while also adding three rebounds and an assist.

“They’re very good,” Holsten said of the Warriors. “They have size that we had trouble dealing with. They’re quick, and they’re experienced and just talented. We had to deal with all four of those and just came up short in every area.”

The loss dropped the Chargers to 3-17 overall. Brandon-Evansville will wrap up the regular season tomorrow, Thursday, against Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley after Ashby was scheduled to come to town on Monday and the Chargers went to Breckenridge last night.
