Authorities search for burglary suspect in Belle River Township

Authorities are searching for a burglary suspect in Douglas County.

The incident began at 9:30 a.m. yesterday, Tuesday, when a relative of a local family came to visit their home on County Road 3 NE in Belle River Township and saw an unknown vehicle parked near a garage.  When the relative pulled in the driveway, the suspect got into his own car and fled the area.  The relative called 911 and watched the vehicle pull off the road and into a field.

Sheriff's deputies located the suspect's vehicle parked in a shed at another residence on County Road 3 and began a search for the suspect.  Stolen property from the initial burglary was found in the field but the suspect was not located, according to the sheriff's office.

The investigation is continuing and charges are expected to be made against the male suspect.

The sheriff's office was assisted by the Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Osakis Police Department and the West Central Drug Task Force. Anyone with information should call the sheriff's office at (320) 762-8151.
