Author of Spruce Hill book to be at Cherry Street Books
In cooperation with the Douglas County Historical Society, Cherry Street Books in Alexandria will host a book signing on Saturday, June 20 from 2 to 3 p.m.
Author Mildred Anderson Dahl will be signing her book, Spruce Hill Remembered.
Anderson was a young girl in the 1930s when her father drove her around the area and told stories of the early settlers in the Spruce Hill area.
They drew maps and wrote detailed notes, all of which finally culminated in the publication of her book in 1996.
The book, recognized by the Library of Congress as one of the best township history books in the nation, has just been reprinted and will be available at the signing on Saturday and the following day at the Spruce Hill Summerfest where Anderson will be honored.
Cherry Street Books is at 503 Broadway in downtown Alexandria.
