Author of runestone fantasy adventure to sign books
Cherry Street Books, 503 Broadway in downtown Alexandria, will host author Jerry Yost for a book signing on Friday, October 11 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Yost has always had an interest in carved relics like the Kensington Runestone and has now written the first book of a planned trilogy about the topic, Rune.
He travelled to Alexandria from his home in Texas to learn about the Runestone. His books are written for middle school/young adult readers and are in the fantasy genre.
Rune tells the tale of a clan of dwarfs who are pledged to protect the Kensington relic. A team of archeologists who are researching the stone stumble onto the dwarfs and the adventure begins.
Yost has had a career in the U.S. Army, worked in advertising and marketing and served in the Texas House of Representatives. He and his wife have travelled extensively all over the world and visited all but two of the 50 states.
His first book, The Great Arctic Adventure: An Elf’s Christmas Tale, was published last year. He plans to continue the story of Rune in the next two books, Rune II and Pleiades.
