Author duo to sign works at Cherry Street Books
Cherry Street Books in Alexandria will host authors and sisters Candace Simar and Angela F. Foster for a reading and signing on Friday, April 26 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
The sisters collaborated on a new book called Farm Girls, a collection of poems and stories about their memories of growing up on an Otter Tail County farm.
Simar, a retired nurse whose current home is in Pequot Lakes, is the well-known author of a series of historic fiction novels, including Abercrombie Trail, Pomme de Terre, Birdie (set in the Alexandria area) and Blooming Prairie.
Foster, a poet and memoirist, teaches creative writing at the Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis and lives on a farm in rural Pine City.
The sisters will read and record some of their work Friday evening for the local radio theater production for later radio broadcast and will do some readings at 2 p.m. at the bookstore during their signing.
