Audrey Olson, 92
Audrey Lorraine DeSota was born April 30, 1921 in Minneapolis, the daughter of Archie and Ruth (Hallbeck) DeSota. She was raised and schooled in Minneapolis. Audrey met Albert Lee and the couple moved to California. They were blessed with two children, Dennis and Barbara.
Audrey and her family moved back to Minnesota and lived in the Minneapolis area and Alexandria area. Audrey was married to Lawrence Olson and the couple made their home in Alexandria.
Audreys great-granddaughter, Christina, was given over to her at age 3. Audrey raised Christina as if she were her own daughter. She loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Audrey enjoyed spending time sewing. She also had a green thumb and loved taking care of her houseplants. Audrey also enjoyed music, especially country and bluegrass.
On Sunday, March 2, 2014, Audrey died at the age of 92 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence Olson; one brother and five sisters.
Audrey is survived by her children, Roger Wright, Dennis Lee and wife Virginia, of Alexandria and Barbara Lorenz of Alexandria; grandchildren, Sherri Lorenz, Michael Lorenz, Johnny Lorenz, Wayne and Liza; great-grandchildren, Christina Essig, Shelly Greyowl and Heidi Henry; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Thursday, March 6 at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. The Rev. Mike Widner was the officiant. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Alexandria. Casket bearers included Stephen Henry, Dakotah Greyowl, Charles Greyowl and Eric Littlegeorge.
