Auditions announced for 'Lucky Stiff'
The Alexandria Area Arts Association (AAAA) announced auditions for its upcoming spring musical, Lucky Stiff, by Tony Award winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. Auditions will be held Monday and Tuesday, February 18 and 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the AAAA theater.
Lucky Stiff is an ensemble show. Five women and six men are needed. Characters range in age from 20 to 70. All parts are speaking/singing roles, except for one non- speaking part. Auditions are open to the public.
Preparation includes a two minute audition package with 12 bars of a contemporary or up-temp musical selection (no ballads) and a one minute comedic monologue.
Bring sheet music along; an accompanist will be provided. Also bring along a headshot, or 5x7 photo.
Based on the 1983 book The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo by Michael Butterworth, Lucky Stiff is a farce that includes mistaken identities, ridiculous lies, slamming doors and mass confusion.
Lucky Stiff will be presented at the AAAA Theatre April 19-28 and is directed by David Christman. Complete synopsis, character listing and audition information is available at www.alexandriaareaarts.org.
