Ashby’s Ohren to attend M-State
Ashby’s Blake Ohren has decided to attend school and play football next season at Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Fergus Falls.
Ohren passed for nearly 1,400 yards and 15 touchdowns while playing quarterback for Ashby this season. He was a contributor in the Arrows’ running game as well, rushing for 670 yards and scoring six touchdowns on the ground. Ohren is one of many local recruits set to be part of the Spartans’ roster next season.
“We always try to stay as local as possible with our recruiting, so we are very happy to have Blake decide to be a student athlete at M-State Fergus Falls next year,” Spartans head coach Steve King said in a press release. “He is an excellent athlete, and we expect him to be on the field immediately and contribute to a winning team.”
Ohren was named all-state honorable mention this season, and he has also been awarded all-section and all-conference multiple years. Members of the Ashby community will only have to make a short trip up Interstate 94 to watch him play football this fall.
“We are extremely excited to be able to watch him play for coach King and the Spartan football team,” Ashby head coach Jeff Risbrudt said. “He is a great athlete, a great leader, a great person and it will be fun to watch him play at the next level.”
Ohren also has been a contributor for the Arrows basketball team through his high school career, recently becoming the school’s all-time career leading scorer.
Ohren also has a long list of academic awards, including as an A and B honor roll student, a Spotlight on Scholar student and a recipient of the Excel Award.
