Ashby wins one match in tourney
The Ashby volleyball team traveled north to Ulen-Hitterdal on Saturday and finished 1-3 at the Norman County East-Ulen Hitterdal volleyball tournament.
The Arrows started play on Saturday with a two-set victory over Clearbrook-Gonvick.
In their second match, the Arrows were unable to overcome taller players from Breckenridge and lost in two sets.
The Arrows rounded out pool play against host NCE-UH. Head coach Andrea Knick said the Arrows could not keep their intensity up through the entire two-set match.
“We worked really hard to keep up with them in the first set, but came up pretty short in the second,” Knick said. “I am seeing some inconsistency with our girls right now, and we need to learn how to start and finish a match at the same level of play.”
The Arrows drew New York Mills in their first round of tournament play. They came out strong and won the first set, but then NYM came back to win the next two.
“They did a great job of pulling off the first set, playing hard, but in the end let them creep back in and take set two and three from us,” Knick said.
For the weekend, Cassandra Jordan finished with six aces and 26 digs. Paige Nelson finished with 12 kills.
