Ashby organizes talent contest
Brush off your instruments, singing voice, dancing shoes, etc. Ashby's Got Talent is scheduled for July 20-21 as part of the Ashby Appreciation Days event. Any "family friendly" form of talent that can be performed on a stage qualifies.
The first round will be Friday, July 20, 2012 at the Ashby Public School Auditorium starting at 6:00 p.m. A panel of three judges, along with audience voting will choose the top six. Those six will move onto the final round of competition starting at 1:00 p.m., July 21st in the Ashby Park. Again, the judges and audience will choose the top three winners. Those top three winners will be asked to do an encore presentation at 3:30 p.m. in the park. Following the encore, first, second and third place will be announced and awarded cash prizes. Winners will ride the Ashby float in the parade that evening at 7:00 p.m. First prize is $250, second prize is $100 and third prize is $50. Thanks to Ashby Community Club for the cash prize donations. The first place winner of last year's event, Evan Slack, will be not compete but will perform for the audience as part of the event.
