Ashby improved to 15-3 after holding off Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley Tuesday night 64-57.

The Arrows jumped to a 32-19 halftime lead, but the Wolverines found their stroke after the break, outscoring Ashby 38-32.

"The Wolverines came out strong in the second half, led by the efforts of Jason Montonye, who scored 14 in the second half and 21 on the night," said Ashby head coach Jeremy Knick. "This was a close game and we did just enough right things to keep them at bay.

"There were a lot of positive things that happened to put us in a position to win," he added. "First, I thought the team played pretty good defense most of the night; they just knocked down some really big shots in the second half.

"Dylan Barry and Morgan Wing did a nice job at the top of our zone, disrupting passes and getting deflections. They [CGB] locked down on Blake [Ohren] and J.P. [Moe], so it was Jeff Berglund who stepped up with his best game as an Arrow, scoring 22 points and ripping down 11 rebounds.

"Our free throw shooting at the end of the game was a key too," he said. "J.P. was 6-for-6 at the end to help seal the deal."

The Arrows will be at Hillcrest tonight, Friday.

The Ashby boys completed the season sweep of Brandon-Evansville last Friday night with a 62-56 win over the Chargers.

The Arrows stretched their winning streak to four games behind Blake Ohren's 20 points, five rebounds and five assists. J.P. Moe added 14 points and six boards, while Tanner Langlie finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.

"With about seven minutes to go in the game, the guys came to life on defense and started to clamp down," Ashby head coach Jeremy Knick said. "That helped create some energy and baskets on the offensive end. We went on a 16-0 run up until the two-minute mark. I give Tanner Langlie a lot of credit for tonight's win. He did about everything he could defensively to contain John Haseman as much as possible, and [Langlie] had 10 of his 12 points in the second half."

Haseman led the Chargers with 19 points. Blake Satterlie added 18 and Billie Juul finished with nine.
