Artistic Ambassadors to perform in Alexandria
Five college musicians serving as the 2014 Artistic Ambassadors for the Minnesota Music Teachers Association (MMTA) will perform concerts in Alexandria on Thursday, April 10 and Friday, April 11.
The musicians include violinists Eric Olson and Sam Schoenwald, cellist Jory Tuftin, soprano Jennifer Olson and pianist Jungae Woo, all graduate students at the University of Minnesota. They were chosen by a panel of judges.
The musicians will present four performances for students at Discovery Middle School and Jefferson High School in Alexandria during the school day.
A 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10 concert is open to the public and will be held at Shalom Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Performances will include the music of Arensky, Prokofiev, LeClair, Schubert, Bartok, Britten, Purcell and Faure.
The MMTA Artistic Ambassador program was created three years ago with the goal of bringing college performers to Minnesota audiences that appreciate classical music.
The MMTA is a professional non-profit educational organization that seeks to advance the profession of music teaching through education, certification, networking and advocacy.
