Anne Carlson, 94
Anne L. Carlson, 94, Alexandria, died on August 11, 2013 in Alexandria.
Anne was born in Varberg, Sweden, on May 19, 1919. She immigrated to the U.S. with her parents in 1923, grew up in Rock Island, Illinois, attended Augustana College, and held several jobs there. Her favorite job was working for the Corps of Engineers.
In 1950, she married A. Wallace Carlson, a Lutheran pastor, and ably assisted him at parishes in Marchwell, Sask., Beckville and Aitkin. When Wallace retired in 1979, Anne went to work at F&M Bank in Minneapolis. She loved being a working woman again, riding the bus downtown every day. She was an accomplished cook and baker, enjoyed reading, writing letters and entertaining.
Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace; sister, Marta Berg; and infant son, Stephen. She is survived by children Marta (Joel) Gisselquist, Mark (Laure), Kent (Pam), and Vicki Carlson; six grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday, August 24 at 2 p.m. at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, visitation one-half hour before.
