Anchors split with Mankato
The Alexandria Blue Anchors (8-15 second half) settled for a split with the Mankato MoonDogs (13-10) over the weekend after a 7-2 loss on Sunday.
The Blue Anchors won the middle games with a 13-11 win on Saturday and an 8-2 win on Friday night. They lost the opening game of the series 6-5.
Alexandria pounded out 15 hits and added three-run innings in the fourth and sixth frames. Rickey Sanchez had three hits, two runs and an RBI. Kris Goodman and Cam Duzenack each had two hits and combined for four runs, while Craig Nennig was 3-for-6 with two runs and three RBIs.
Zach Muckehhirn got the win for Alexandria. He went five innings, allowing four runs on seven hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Jason Zgardowski got the win on Friday night with six solid innings. He didn’t allow a run while scattering five hits and striking out four to lower his ERA to 3.76 on the season.
Alexandria will have a day-night doubleheader today, Wednesday, with a 12:05 p.m. first pitch at home against Willmar before going to Willmar for game two at 7:05. The Blue Anchors will be back home with the first of four straight games on Thursday with a 6:35 p.m. first pitch against Eau Claire.
