Alton Fiskness to be ordained
Alton Fiskness will be ordained into Christian ministry on Sunday, October 14 by Pastor Mark Richardson, service coordinator of the Augustana District of the Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC). Alton has been called as a District Interim Pastor.
The ordination service will be held at Sauk Valley Lutheran Church in rural Osakis at 1:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
Fiskness grew up on a dairy farm in rural Osakis. He was baptized and confirmed at Elim Lutheran Church in rural Osakis. Fiskness attended Osakis High School, graduated from Moorhead State University and earned a Master's Degree in health education and a School Administrator Certificate from St. Cloud State University.
Fiskness taught high school at Moose Lake and Fergus Falls prior to serving with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Upon his return from the military, Fiskness went to the New London-Spicer area where he taught mathematics, history, family life education and helped with coaching.
In 2003 he completed a graduate program on the history of Christianity at Luther Seminary of St. Paul. He received a Master of Divinity in 2008. Fiskness did his internship at Peace Lutheran Church of New London and did his clinical pastoral training at the St. Cloud VA.
Fiskness and his wife, Carolyn, have two grown children.
