ALP issues alert over frozen water lines

Alexandria Light and Power Utilities is asking water customers to check their water temperature in an effort to reduce frozen water lines. Extensive sub-zero temperatures have caused a deeper than usual frost line, resulting in increased frozen lines.

To check your water temperature, turn on the cold water faucet nearest your incoming water source and hold a thermometer under the stream of running water until the temperature stabilizes. If the temperature is below 40 degrees, ALP recommends that you set one of your faucets to run a pencil-sized stream until the water warms to a temperature above 40 degrees.

If you need to run your water, contact ALP so that it has a record of which customers are affected.

Customers can call ALP with any questions at (320) 763-6501, visit the online site at: www.alputilities.com or go to the Facebook page: facebook.com/alputilities.
