Alfred Ellertson, 85

Alfred Palmer Ellertson, 85, died March 15, 2009.

Alfred was born April 8, 1923 in Langhei Township, south of Starbuck, to Otto and Alma (Nelson) Ellertson. He attended country school In Langhei though 5th grade. Following his schooling Alfred worked with his father.

He and his parents moved to Alexandria, where he continued to work for his father. Following his mother's death, Alfred lived with and provided care for his father as long as he was able.

Alfred was a self-taught auto mechanic. He worked at Andy's Interlachen Inn in Alexandria. He also worked as a tree trimmer and did lawn care. Alfred liked working hard.

Alfred had a small place on Blackwell Lake near Holmes City, where he went fishing summer and winter. He also enjoyed deer hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Elmer Ellertson, Arthur Ellertson and infant, Lloyd Ellertson.

Alfred is survived by three sisters, Olivia (Clifton) Botner of Alexandria, Pearle Kaehler of St. Paul and Inez (Harvey) Jacobson of Big Lake; many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, March 17 at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria with the Rev. James Oakland officiating. Interment was at Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria. Honorary casket bearers included all of Alfred's nieces and nephews.
