Alexandria Youth Trap League opens May 5
The Alexandria Youth Trap League will start another season on May 5.
Orientation will be held on April 18 at 5 p.m. and Monday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the Alexandria Shooting Park.
The Alexandria Youth Trap League is coming off a season that saw its shooters experience a lot of success. Top Male Gun went to Sam Radil and Top Female Gun went to Amanda Schmidt for their season that ended last fall. Kolten Adolphsen won the Most Improved Award.
NRA Marksmanship awards were given to Josh Schmidt, Amanda Schmidt, Darren Radil and Aaron Lund for completing the distinguished expert qualifications.
In all, almost 60 shooters were recognized for their accomplishments during the 18-week season. Spencer Jacobson, Josh Gebhardt, Aaron Lund, Darren Radil, Sam Radil and Clayton Stotesbery brought home medals for taking first place in the American League. Ariel Way, Josh Hedstrom, Kyle Nelson, Kolten Adolphsen, Cody Adolphsen and Conner Schuneman did the same in the National League.
The youth trap league also helps support the 4-H shooting sports. Josh Schmidt of Alexandria was one of five shooters selected to represent Minnesota at the 4-H National shooting sports competition in Nebraska last June. Josh Gebhardt from Brandon was selected to shoot at the national competition in Texas this June. There are more than 300 competitors attending this competition from all across the United States.
