Alexandria woman scratches off $50,000 Lottery prize
Evelyn Skrove of Alexandria likes to play bingo and the occasional scratch-off Lottery games, so the morning of June 18, she sat down with a Minnesota Gold 10X ticket she purchased at Holiday, located at 5310 Highway 29 South in Alexandria.
When Skrove saw one of her numbers matched a winning number on the ticket, she proceeded to uncover the prize, which was $50,000.
"At first, I thought it was just $5, then I saw more!" she said with a grin. "I just sat there and looked and couldn't believe it. I just couldn't believe it."
Skrove claimed the prize on June 24 at the Lottery headquarters in Roseville.
Minnesota Gold 10X is a $10 ticket that offers a top prize of $200,000 and a $50,000 second prize. The odds of winning $50,000 are one in 202,050.
There are currently two of the three $200,000 prizes and four of the six $50,000 prizes remaining to be claimed.
Proceeds from the Lottery have raised more than $2.2 billion for state programs since it began in 1990. The general fund has received more than $1.3 billion to help fund education, public safety, health and human services and other programs. More than $875 million has gone toward environmental programs.
