Alexandria students perform in honor band

Five Alexandria musicians performed in the Concordia College Honor Band Festival in Moorhead April 5-7.

Performing in the Concordia College Band were Rachel Astrup on tenor saxophone and Meghan Hartokolis on flute.

Performing in the High School Honor Band were Sarah Connell on alto saxophone, Andrew Storm on baritone saxophone and Paul Meland on tenor saxophone.

To be selected to the honor band, students had to submit a taped audition and were selected to the group based upon musicianship.

The 75-member honor band consisted of students from six states.

Both the Concordia College Band and Honor Band were directed by Dr. Peter Haberman and Dr. Andrew Boesen. Boesen also wrote a commission piece for the honor band, which was premiered at the concert on Sunday, April 7.
