Alexandria Smiles collects from children 220 pounds of candy that will go to troops
2011 was Alexandria Smiles' third year collecting Halloween candy for the troops.
This year, the clinic paid children $1 per pound of candy. The candy was then sent to local troops serving overseas.
"Our goal this year was to collect 75 pounds of candy," said Dr. Erick Nolting at Alexandria Smiles. "We are very excited to announce, that with the help of our supportive community, we collected over 220 pounds of candy!"
Included in the care packages were many personal care items, games, books and other snack items.
"We were also very fortunate to be able to include some wonderful handmade cards from local schoolchildren and many heartfelt notes from community members," said Nolting. "We would like to say thank you to all of those businesses and individuals who donated. It was a wonderful way to show our local troops our support."
