Alexandria School Board approves final levy

At the regular school board meeting held December 16, the Alexandria District 206 School Board

certified the final 2013 (payable 2014) tax levy after holding a public hearing.

The final levy certified by the board was approved at $11.297 million – a 0.73 percent

increase from the final 2012 (payable 2013) levy.

This is no change from the preliminary levy approved in September.

The major factors in the 0.73 percent increase are a new state-mandated

student achievement levy and proposed health and safety projects. District 206’s certified levy is

29.1 percent of the district’s total adjusted net tax capacity, compared to the state average (1)

40.3 percent.
