Alexandria resident's fashion photos go on display in maurices stores nationwide
Caitlin Freier of Alexandria, who attends college at Concordia College in Moorhead, has been on an amazing journey since becoming one of 12 winners in maurices Main Street Model Search. The next leg has her appearing in the young women's fashion stores nationwide - or at least her image will be making the trip.
All 780 maurices stores across the country are showcasing back-to-school fashions starting this week. Freier, one of the four winners who modeled the season's fashions, will have her images displayed throughout the stores. The photos are also appearing on maurices.com, postcard mailers and other marketing materials.
An open house at the Alexandria maurices, Viking Plaza, 3015 Highway 29 S., Suite 4097, will celebrate the unveiling from 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday, August 8. In addition to meeting Freier and seeing the photos, guests will enjoy refreshments and door prize drawings.
Area residents may recognize Knute Nelson Memorial Ballpark, home of the Alexandria Beetles baseball team, which provided a great backdrop for photos. Other photos were taken at scenic locations in nearby Glenwood.
"I am still in amazement over the fact that my photos will be hanging in maurices stores nationwide," said Freier. "I feel incredibly proud and excited about the photos and the accomplishments I have made in maurices Main Street Model Search. I feel like a celebrity."
Representatives from the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life and WINGS Family Supportive Services will also be on hand. Potts chose those groups to split a $7,500 donation from maurices in honor of her win.
"The maurices team loved visiting the Alexandria area," said Monica Hendrickson, maurices marketing manager. "Our corporate offices are in Duluth, so we have a great appreciation for this part of the country. We were thrilled to take photos at a baseball field--an icon of the summer and fall in Minnesota, and showcase some of Minnesota's natural beauty. We invite everyone to attend the open house to see these great pictures and celebrate Cailtin's success."
The photos will be in stores through September, but that won't be the last people see of Freier. The maurices creative team has been so inspired by these amazing young women, they have decided to add another shoot to the experience. Freier will go to Minneapolis in mid-September where she will attend another maurices Main Street Model photo shoot with all 12 of the winners. She and the others will be modeling holiday fashions in a larger-than-life setting. Those photos will appear in stores in December.

About maurices Main Street Model Search
A pool of 500+ applicants from across the country was pared down to 50 through online voting, and then to 20 by maurices. The top 20 were flown to Minneapolis for a casting call, which included interviews, hair and makeup sessions, and test photo shoots. maurices then selected the 12 winners.
Each woman is modeling maurices fashions for an upcoming fall, holiday or spring campaign. In addition to the photo shoot and $7,500 to designate to a local nonprofit, each model also received $1,500 in maurices clothing and a Flip video camera to capture her path to becoming a maurices model.
