Alexandria native returns to join county hospital
In what will be his first civilian practice, Alexandria native Dr. Dustin Lorentz will bring the spirit of teamwork and camaraderie he learned in the Navy to Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.
Lorentz has a special interest in hospitalist medicine, obesity and diabetes. He looks forward to seeing his patients progress toward better health.
“I know they haven’t usually chosen to be in a hospital…and they didn’t choose me as a physician, but I’m still focused on giving them a good experience,” Lorentz said.
Lorentz graduated summa cum laude in 2003 from St. John’s University in Collegeville. He then graduated with his Doctor of Medicine in 2007 at the University of Minnesota.
After medical school, Lorentz joined the U.S. Navy.
He completed his internal medicine residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego prior to becoming the senior medical officer onboard the USS Carter Hall from 2010-2012. He served 2012-2014 at the Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth.
Lorentz is board certified in internal medicine and an active member of the American College of Physicians. He and his wife, Michelle, live in Alexandria with their three boys.
