Alexandria Marching Band earns early season accolades

The start of the 2013 summer season has been successful for the Alexandria Marching Band, it reported.

Starting in June at Benson, the band placed first in class, won the outstanding color guard award, and won the People's Choice award out of a field of 10 bands.

On June 15 at Buffalo, the band placed first in class, won the outstanding color guard award, won outstanding winds, and won outstanding drum majors out of a field of 10 bands.

The band will continue to strive for excellence and will march in St. Cloud on June 29 and in Alexandria on June 30.

The band, along with the Stabekk Band of Olso, Norway, will also be featured in the Root Beer Float concert on Saturday, June 29 at 6 p.m. in the Jefferson High School gym in Alexandria.
