Alexandria Evening Lions Club recently sponsored a Car Care Saturday at Koep’s Korner in Alexandria. Lion president Ron Droppo not only helped Douglas County Car Care Program (DCCCP) fix five cars but he also handed out the keys for three cars that were donated that day.

As a sponsor, the Lions Club contributed $1,000 to DCCCP to help cover the cost for parts and service for repairing both the donated and client cars that were repaired.

Since April 2013, DCCCP has donated 13 cars and repaired more than 60 cars to help individuals and families in the area.

As one of the recipients said, “Being a single mother of four children, receiving this van will help fit my family comfortably and (in) safety to school, work, grocery store, doctors, etc. I no longer have to worry about not getting or making it to town anymore.”

The mission of DCCCP is “fostering independence by providing car care”.
