Alexandria dance: Cardinals host invitational tomorrow

The Alexandria dance team will host its 17th annual invitational at Jefferson High School beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 5.

Thirty-three area schools will perform a total of 97 dance routines in the junior varsity and varsity jazz and kick fields. Tickets, which are good for all day, are $7 for adults and $5 for students (k-12).

The Class A JV kick competition will get things going around 9:30. The Class AA kick competition will start around 4:15 p.m., while the Class AA jazz competition is scheduled to begin at 6:55. The awards presentation is scheduled to wrap up the day a little after nine.

Alexandria will be the ninth varsity team to perform in the Class AA kick out of a 15-team field. The Cardinals will dance fifth out of 14 teams in the jazz competition.

Class A competition

will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and the Class AA begins at 4:15 p.m. Awards will be presented to Class A at 3:20 p.m. and to Class AA at 9:05 p.m.

Class AA Kick teams include

Annandale, St. Cloud Apollo, Crookston, Montevideo, Fergus Falls, Sauk Rapids, Albany, Bemidji, Alexandria, Monticello, Pequot Lakes, Detroit Lakes, Rocori, Willmar and Melrose

Class AA Jazz teams are

Bemidji, Pequot Lakes, Rocori, Albany, Alexandria, Melrose, Annandale, Crookston, Montevideo, Detroit Lakes, Monticello, Fergus Falls, Sauk Rapids and St. Cloud Apollo

Class A Kick teams are

United Clay-Becker, BOLD, Pelican Rapids, Canby, Yellow Medicine East, Frazee, Duluth Marshall, Aitkin, Sectrum, Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton, Tracy, Maccray, Pierz, Wadena, PACT, BBE, Lac qui Parle Valley and Lakeview

Class A Jazz teams include

Pierz, Spectrum, Maccray, Frazee, United Clay-Becker, Pelican Rapids, Aitkin, Tracy, PACT, Lakeview, Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton, Lac qui Parle Valley, BOLD, Yellow Medicine East and Duluth Marshall
