Alexandria calls for applicants for Charter Commission
The city of Alexandria is accepting applications from citizens who wish to be considered for appointment to the Charter Commission.
You must be a qualified voter of the city of Alexandria in order to be considered for the Charter Commission.
The city functions under a Home Rule Charter last amended on November 2, 1976.
As described in Minnesota Statutes, the duties of a Charter Commission in a city with an existing charter are to study the local charter and government.
The commission must meet at least once per calendar year.
The chief judge of the 7th Judicial District for the state of Minnesota will make the appointments to the Charter Commission.
The Alexandria City Council requests that citizens interested in appointment to the Charter Commission fill out an application and return it to City Hall, 704 Broadway, by Friday, August 16.
Applications are available at City Hall or at www.ci.alexandria.mn.us. Click on the Boards and Commissions link.
Please note that, pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, the city council will evaluate the applications and nominate seven individuals for the chief judge to consider when making appointments to the Charter Commission.
