Alexandria boys' golf: Cardinals fifth at CLC meet
The Alexandria boys' golf team got off to a slow start in the first Central Lakes Conference meet of the season on Monday as the Cardinals finished fifth at Sartell.
Alexandria finished with a team score of 328 behind a 77 from senior Nick Brundell. St. Cloud Tech was 16 shots better with a 312 that was good enough to win the meet. Sartell shot a 318 and Willmar rounded out the top three with a 320.
"We are now going to play only four CLC meets, which makes each meet that much more important," head coach Rick Larson said. "Well, we did not get off to a very good start...Nick Brundell still is not playing at his ability level but did break into the 70s for the first time. Hopefully, he will start to heat up now."
Brundell was the only Alexandria golfer to shoot in the 70s. Sophomore Cole Haugen carded an 82, while senior Kyle Blank and junior Brandon Bistodeau rounded out the Cardinals' scorers with an 84 and 85, respectively.
Sophomore Lukas Bigger is Alexandria's second lowest scorer but wasn't able to get things going on Monday. He shot a 90, while fellow sophomore Aaron Johnson carded an 89 for the Cardinals.
