Alexandria boys' golf: Brundell's 72 leads Cardinals to first
Cardinal senior Nick Brundell picked up yet another medalist honor for the boys' golf team, firing an even-par 72 at the Sauk Centre Invitational at GreyStone Wednesday, and leading the team to a first place finish.
"Although there were only four teams, it gave the guys some competition going into the section meet next week," said head coach Rick Larson. "Nick continues his torrid scoring and he seems especially comfortable on the GreyStone course. He will be leading us into sections.
"Cole Haugen and Brady Hafdal both shot 79 [and] were good scores also, especially for Brady, who finally cracked the starting lineup in our last qualifier.
"Lukas Bigger had a double and a triple, but still managed an 80 with some good putting," Larson said. "Aaron Johnson had a stretch of bogeys on five of his last eight holes, and Kyle Blank had a triple bogey and two double bogeys for his 82, which is one of his better scores lately."
The Cardinals competed in the Section 8AAA meet Monday and Tuesday, and were seeded No. 1 ahead of Willmar, Moorhead and St. Cloud Tech.
