Alexandria Area Arts Association presents The Haunted Theatre
The Alexandria Area Arts Association (AAAA) will hold their 7th annual Haunted Theatre October 26, 27, 30 and 31 from 6:30 to 11 p.m. at the AAAA Theatre in Downtown Alexandria.
This year's event is much different than previous haunted theaters, according to event organizers. "Every year we try to raise the stakes a little bit," said Benjamin Klipfel, AAAA executive director. "This year, we have more than doubled the size of the attraction, utilizing all three levels of the theater."
Other new features of the Haunted Theatre include ticket numbers, so groups no longer have to wait in line. Groups can lounge in the lobby or the theater until their number is called.
The event is self-guided, driving audiences deeper and deeper into the theater.
Patrons may take advantage of the coat check for $1 and enjoy treats in the attraction's general store, Helden's Flesh Foods (homage to the event sponsor Elden's Fresh Foods). Among the treats are "Bled Pudding" and "Mince Pie," baked by Roers Bakery.
October 30 is Jingle Hell Night, with 10 percent of the evening's proceeds going to the Jingle Bells Foundation in Alexandria.
Admission is $8 at the door. This event is not recommended for children younger than 10.
