Alex swim club members break 11 club records at state
Members of the Alexandria Swim Club broke 11 organization records and finished 13th as a team at the Long Course State Championship on Thursday, July 25 at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
Alexandria swimmer Lacey Entzi advanced to the Central Zone 14-Under Age Group Long Course Championship after qualifying in the six events she swam over the weekend. The Central Zone meet is taking place this Friday through Sunday in Topeka, Kansas.
Entzi's results at state also broke six records for Alexandria in the 11-12 age group.
Entzi finished in fifth place in three of the events she swam at the state meet, including the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 29.42, the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:21.17 and the 50-meter backstroke with a time of 34.03. She also finished seventh in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 1:04.85, seventh in the 200-meter backstroke with a time of 2:39.83 and 15th in the 50-meter butterfly with a time of 32.60.
Alexandria swimmer Grace Karrow broke two club records in the 8-and-under age group at the state meet.
Karrow finished 15th in the 50-meter butterfly with a time of 49.86 and 15th in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 1:33.56.
Two different Alexandria swimmers in the 9-10 age group also broke club records last weekend.
Ashtyn Molesworth finished in 21st place in the 50-meter breaststroke with a time of 46.16. In the 50-meter backstroke, McKenna Horan finished in 20th place with a time of 39.73.
Alexandria's Hannah Eklund also broke a club record in the meet, finishing in 22nd place in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:23.59.
As a team, Alexandria finished in 13th place out of 15 teams in the A Division with a total of 76 points.
