Alex plans warm welcome for firefighters

This weekend the Alexandria Fire Department is hosting the 137th annual Minnesota State Fire Department Association (MSFDA) Conference.

Firefighter events started on Thursday, June 14 and conclude on Saturday.

Friday night up to 700 visitors will be in town shopping, staying at hotels and enjoying local restaurants.

Community members are invited to attend the Grand Parade on Saturday, June 16 from 2:45 to 4:15 p.m. The parade will start at Mike's Car Wash, proceed down Broadway and finish at the fire station.

The AFD Honor Guard and Explorers, the Minnesota Pipe and Police Band, Kracker Jacks, Fergus Falls Band, Alexandria Aces basketball team and a lot of fire trucks are scheduled to appear in the parade.

Guest tours of downtown Alexandria and Carlos Creek Winery (12:30 to 5 p.m.)

Saturday, June 16

Memorial Service at Covenant Church

Grand Parade downtown Alexandria (2:45 p.m.)

Firefighter's tour and visit AFD Fire Station

Firefighter banquet and dance at RCC
