Alex Legion still alive at state tournament
Alexandria Minnesota 225 7th Ave E

The Alexandria Legion Post 87 baseball team will play on the second day of the Division I state tournament after splitting its first two games on Friday.

Alexandria beat Delano 11-7 on Friday evening after falling to Lakeville North 13-4 in game one. Post 87 fell victim to a Lakeville North team that is ranked third in the July 27 Division I Legion state baseball polls. Alexandria is ranked ninth in that same poll and showed why by bouncing back against Delano.

Mitch Thompson got the win on the mound for Alexandria in game two. Post 87 will now play at 11 a.m. on Saturday against the loser of Rochester versus Excelsior, which played Friday night. Scores from that game were not yet posted as of late Friday night, but Alexandria and whichever team it plays will go into Saturday needing to win from here on out to extend their season.
