Alex girls' soccer moves to 3-1
The Alexandria girls' soccer team improved to 3-1 with another defensive gem in a 2-1 win over Sauk Rapids-Rice on Tuesday night.
Anna Lee scored what turned out to be the game winner 23 minutes into the second half. Emily Korkowski started the play as she sent in a corner kick that Lee finished to give her team the 2-1 lead. Alexandria had led 1-0 at the break after a first-half goal by Korkowski off an assist from Rachel Drew.
The Storm answered with a goal 13 minutes into the second half to even things up. It's as close as Sauk Rapids could get, though, as the Alexandria defense tightened up the rest of the way. The win improved the Cardinals to 2-0 in the Central Lakes Conference. Senior keeper Sarah Bruzek has allowed just two goals through the first four games.
