Alex girls beat Willmar in OT
After losing a 10 point halftime lead, the Alexandria girls’ basketball team rebounded in overtime to pull out a 64-62 victory in Willmar Tuesday.
Brooke Heggie hit the game winning shot in the final seconds of overtime as she led the Cardinals with 21 points.
Alexandria went into halftime with a 28-18 lead, but Willmar clawed its way back in the second half and tied the game on free throws with no time left on the clock to force overtime.
Kendall Kohler contributed 12 points, seven assists and six steals for Alexandria while Karly Betterman finished with 10 points and four assists.
The win improved the Cardinals to 14-4 overall and 10-2 in the Central Lakes Conference.
