The Sabres answered again in the third with two more runs. This time, they wouldn’t relinquish that lead. Alexandria left the tying run on third in the bottom of the sixth and loaded the bases in the seventh when the Cardinals were down by two. The Sabres got back-to-back strikeouts to secure the win.

Game one saw Alexandria pound out 15 hits.

Blake Stockert had three of those, including a three-run home run in the first. It was the third home run in the last four at-bats for Stockert. He also had a double to go along with his three RBIs.

The Cardinals have CLC games next week at Sauk Rapids on Tuesday and against second-place Brainerd at home on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
