It held its charter party on November 10.

Activities planned for the group are helping hand out medals at the Special Olympics, ringing bells for The Salvation Army, helping the Jefferson High School Key Club, fun group activities and special guests and programs at each meeting.

Anyone who is 18 years old and living with a disability can come to a meeting and join the Aktion Club.

At the first meeting there were a total of 33 members, said Tam Bukowski, past president of the Kiwanis Noon Club. She added that the current enrollment is 40 members and more members are welcome.

A club president, vice president, secretary and treasurer have been elected. The president of the Aktion club is Brian Amundson, vice president is Matt Severance, secretary is Maude Swanson and the treasurer is Ralph Koopmeiners.

The club is run entirely by its members.

Before the new Alexandria Charter Aktion Club was approved, the group had already conducted its first service project.

The project was helping fill 500 backpacks for United Way.

The club will continue to meet monthly at Alexandira Technical and Community College in Auditorium 743 every second Wednesday.
