"The team competed alongside 270 athletes from all around the state," said head coach Wade Traphagen. "Hopes were high heading into the day as the team finished the regular season by bowling their best games of the season.

"The hot streak continued as many of the bowlers posted season bests," he added.

Hjelle's third place came with a series score of 474, including a season-high game of 135.

Berg, who also finished 10th in the girls' PI Singles, had a score of 425.

In the boys' PI singles division, McCabe was seventh with a season-best series of 452.

"In the CI Doubles competition, the dynamic duo of Austin GaNun and Abby Neale took home third place and shattered their season bests with a score of 859," said Traphagen. "In the PI team competition, the team of Jack Botzet, Lily Hjelle, Stephen McCabe and Kari Berg placed third with a season best score of 1743.

"Although the team fell just short of winning the state title, the bowlers had the time of their lives and did an excellent job of representing the community of Alexandria.

"We would like to congratulate Patrick Takeda, our team captain and lone senior, for a terrific season and outstanding career," said his coach. "Patrick finished his career on a high note by recording a career best single game score (173) and series (470) during the CI team competition Friday. Thank you Patrick for your leadership this season and best of luck to you in the future!"
