Aagard Group to receive Business and Industrial Appreciation Day award
Aagard Group, LLC of Alexandria has been selected to receive the 2009 Business and Industrial Appreciation Day (BIAD) award.
The BIAD award is presented annually to a local business by the Alexandria Area Economic Development Commission (AAEDC) and Alexandria Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce boards of directors.
The 26th annual BIAD Award Luncheon will take place Tuesday, October 27 at 11:30 a.m. in the upper ballroom of Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center.
Aagard Group, LLC designs, engineers and manufactures automated packaging machinery and is committed to "Redefining the Standard." This commitment, along with product innovation and focus on customer service have enabled the company to grow rapidly since it began operations in Carlos in 1997.
In 2002, the company relocated to a larger space on Aga Drive in Alexandria to meet space needs required by their growing sales. Due to continued growth and increased need for manufacturing and assembly space, Aagard group broke ground on a 36,000 square-foot facility in the Alexandria Industrial Park in October 2005.
Since the completion of this facility, Aagard has completed an additional expansion project to the building to meet the increased demand for their products. Aagard Group continues to increase sales and employment, and today the company occupies a 111,500 square-foot facility and employs more than 100 people.
Every year, starting in 1984, an Alexandria area business or organization has been selected as the BIAD recipient and has been honored for their significant contribution to the social and economic vitality of the Douglas County region through creation of jobs, business investment, and community development efforts.
The local celebration has become one of the largest Greater Minnesota events with consistent attendance ranging from 250 to 350 area citizens, business persons, and government officials.
The BIAD program is a joint effort of the Chamber and the AAEDC, and is focused on providing an opportunity for the Alexandria regional community to say, "Thank you for being a vital part of our community."
The honored company is selected based on the jobs it creates for the community or region, the investments it has made to facilities within Douglas County, and the community contributions that the business makes.
