55+ driver improvement courses offered in area
The Minnesota Highway Safety Center will offer four upcoming 55+ Driver Improvement classes.
Tuesday and Wednesday, October 22-23, 6 to 10 p.m., Parkers Prairie High School, 411 South Otter Avenue, Parkers Prairie. Saturday, November 2, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Grand Arbor, 4403 Pioneer Road Southeast, Alexandria.
Four-hour refresher courses will be held: Wednesday, October 30, 6 to 10 p.m., Parkers Prairie High School, 411 South Otter Avenue, Parkers Prairie.
Wednesday, November 6, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., Grand Arbor, 4403 Pioneer Road Southeast, Alexandria.
The fee is $20 for the four-hour refresher course and $24 for the eight-hour first-time course.
The driver improvement courses are open to the public. Pre-registration is required. A Minnesota Highway Safety and Research Center certified instructor teaches the class.
By utilizing up-to-date research, participants will receive the latest information in regards to driver safety, new laws and vehicle technology.
Persons age 55 or older who complete the course qualify for a 10 percent discount on their auto insurance premiums for three years, according to Minnesota law.
First-time participants must complete an initial eight hours of training and a four hour refresher class every three years to maintain the 10 percent insurance discount.
