55+ driver improvement courses offered
The Minnesota Highway Safety Center will offer 55+ Driver Improvement Courses.
Two eight-hour first-time courses will be held on the following days:
Tuesday and Wednesday, June 11 and 12 from 6 to 10 p.m., at Parkers Prairie High School, 411 South Otter Avenue.
Wednesday and Thursday, June 12 and 13 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Grand Arbor Senior Residence, 4403 Pioneer Road Southeast, Alexandria.
One four-hour refresher course will be held on the following day:
Thursday, June 6 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Parkers Prairie High School, 411 South Otter Avenue.
The fee for the eight-hour first-time course is $24, and the four-hour refresher course is $20.
The driver improvement courses are open to the public. Pre-registration is required. A Minnesota Highway Safety and Research Center certified instructor teaches the class.
Persons age 55 or older who complete the course qualify for a 10 percent discount on their auto insurance premiums for three years, according to Minnesota law.
First-time participants must complete the initial eight hours of training and a four hour refresher class every three years to maintain the 10 percent insurance discount.
