2011 Hall of Fame inductees to give presentation
The 2011 District 206 Hall of Fame inductees will be presenting in the Oak Conference Room at Woodland Elementary School on Thursday, September 22 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
The Alexandria Public Schools Education Foundation is sponsoring the event.
At 6 p.m., Dr. Patrick Redig, a 1966 Jefferson High School (JHS) graduate, will talk about his work at the Raptor Center of the University of Minnesota (U of M) and expand it in the context of larger global conservation issues.
Redig is a professor of avian physiology at the U of M and co-founder of the U of M Raptor Center. He is also the author of numerous publications.
Presenting at 7:30 p.m. will be Jodi Hills, a 1981 JHS graduate. Hills is the author and illustrator of seven books; creator of cards, motivational posters, journals, jewelry and a clothing line; and a motivational speaker.
Hills' topic for the evening will be, "Something will grow from all this...and it will be me." She will speak of early life lessons and how they relate to today - some from her grandfather's farm, Lake Latoka, and Van Dyke Road. She will also read from a collection of her books.
The fifth annual Hall of Fame luncheon will be held on Friday, September 23 from noon to 1:15 p.m. at the Broadway Ballroom in Alexandria. All three hall of fame honorees - Redig, Hills and Roderick Nordell, will be honored at that event. Call (320) 762-3310 for luncheon ticket information.
