Ecumen Bethany Community in Alexandria will host an educational session, The Written Gift, to help approach a difficult topic: advance care planning. It will be held on Monday, Feb. 6, at 2:30 p.m. in the Winona Shores Community Room, 1010 Lark St., Alexandria.
Advance care planning is a process that starts with identifying health care values and preferences, exploring end of life options and conducting an open discussion between you, your loved ones, health care agent and health care provider. The ideal result is the completion of a health care directive that assures that in the midst of a medical crisis, your wishes will be made known.
The public is welcome to an education session to learn how to approach this topic and work through the process.
