Hospital donates defibrillator to senior center

The Douglas County Hospital Auxiliary recently donated a defibrillator to the Alexandria Senior Center. In honor of the event, the senior center held a special ceremony for the installation on Sept. 20. Those who attended include (left to right) Todd Johnson and Vickie Olmeschenk, Douglas County Hospital staff; Crescent Hess of North Ambulance; and Marcia Gae Schmitt, senior center manager.

The Douglas County Hospital Auxiliary recently donated a defibrillator and mounted casing for the machine to the Alexandria Senior Center.

Due to the financial and health value that the defibrillator adds to the facility, the senior center held a special ceremony on Tuesday, Sept. 20, involving staff of the hospital and seniors acknowledging the gift.

Crescent Hess of North Ambulance also provided an instruction session on how to use the equipment. Staff of the NSI nutrition program were also involved in the training.
